The history
Kent Ridge Park, formerly known as Pasir Panjang Ridge, was originally a lowland evergreen rainforest. The park's natural vegetation survives in the form of groves of Tembusu, Acacias and Dillenias. When the first settlers arrived in Singapore in the early 19th century, they grew crops such as rubber, pepper, gambier and pineapple on the ridge. During World War II, it was used as a fortress by the British in the defence of Singapore. Many of the plantations were destroyed or abandoned during the Japanese Occupation (1942–1945), allowing the crops to grow wild. After the war, the area was renamed Kent Ridge Park and was officially opened on 23 February 1954 by the Governor of Singapore, Sir John Fearns Nicoll. The name was chosen to commemorate the visit to the park by the Duchess of Kent and her son, the Duke of Kent, on 3 October 1952; a plaque commemorating the occasion was erected at the junction of Kent Ridge Road and South Buona Vista Road in 1952.
Atop Bukit Chandu, alternatively known as Opium Hill (in Malay), after the opium processing factory owned by the British East India Company that was at the foot of the hill until 1910 is a WWII interpretive centre is based in an old renovated villa. Its focus is the brave stand made by the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Malay Regiment defending the hill in the Battle of Pasir Panjang when the Japanese invaded in 1942. the site of the Battle of Bukit Chandu, fought by the 159 survivors of the Malay Regiment led by Lieutenant Adnan Bin Saidi against the 13,000 men of Lieutenant-General Mutaguchi Renya's 18th Division. The Malay Regiment's position on the hill was overrun by the Japanese and the battle ended in hand-to-hand combat after the last few defenders ran out of ammunition. All the officers except one, Lieutenant Abbas Abdul-Manan, and most of the men, were massacred in the aftermath. The reflections at Bukit Chandu contain many High-tech displays, using films from the period and audio effects to transport you to the scene of the battle, are all quite evocative.
Paranormal activities
It has been rumoured that there have been sightings of Pontianak around Kent Ridge Park. In addition, sensitive individuals have reported eerie spots in at least three areas of Kent Ridge Park. How true? Lets come find out with SPI.

Another great event
As a show of solidarity between SPI and SUPERNATURAL and in the spirit of partnership, there will be SN members joining this trip.
It will also be a good opportunity for SPI and SN rank and file members to get to know each other. _________________ Adviser, Singapore Paranormal Investigators

Scapula, you will be leading the event right?
About 10 of my Supernatural members will be joining the event. They will be led by Supernatural Singapore chief Mr Khamis.
Khamis, will pass you the invitation card for the 2nd Au event which I have spoke with Kenny about.
I would miss this 18th event as I will be in Jakarta that weekend.
But wishing all will be good and I hope this event will also provide an excellent opportunity for members from the 2 partners organisation to get to know each other better. _________________ Adviser, Singapore Paranormal Investigators

We had such a wonderful time with SN's team of 10 with us that evening.
Looking forward to our next collaboration! _________________ "A lie told often enough becomes the truth." - Vladimir Lenin
